PEMCO’s mobile app, branded Go PEMCO, allows customers to access valuable policy information from their smartphones and other devices. Like most insurance apps, Go PEMCO is geared toward existing customers rather than prospective buyers, and the features reflect that focus.
The app itself has a simple, user-friendly interface featuring large buttons and easy-to-read options. It’s not crammed full of features, but it includes everything the average user has come to expect from an insurance app as well as a bit of unique PEMCO personality.
Go PEMCO is available for free on iTunes and Google Play. You’ll need an Apple device with iOS 6.0 or higher or an Android running 2.3.3 or more. The app is optimized for iPhone 5, so you may run into some issues on an earlier model.
There are two things that people primarily want from an insurance app: the ability to pay your bill, and access to digital insurance ID cards. Go PEMCO offers both of these things.
From the app, you can view your insurance information for all of your policies, allowing you to view coverages. You can’t make any changes to these from inside the app, but you can at least reference the policy.
You can also pull up an ID card for quick proof-of-insurance, assuming your state recognizes digital IDs. With this feature becoming increasingly popular among insurance apps, printed insurance ID cards may someday become obsolete.
Go PEMCO also lets you pay your bill from the app. As a handy added feature, the app shows you when your bill is due right from the front page, so you have an easy reminder every time you open it.
The app also includes a few fun touches, like the ability to watch PEMCO commercials or call the company with a one-touch dial.
One glaring absence however is a mobile claims form.
Most insurance apps allow you to file a claim or submit pictures to your adjuster from your mobile device. This feature is curiously missing from Go PEMCO, which definitely puts a damper on the app’s usefulness.
Google Play / iTunes / Amazon Reviews
Based on customer ratings, the app seems to be more popular among Android users than Apple (at least when it comes to leaving reviews): There are just 12 reviews on iTunes and 29 on Google Play.
Despite the limited number of reviews, user ratings on both sites are quite high. It has a 4.4 out of five star rating on Google Play, with just two one-star reviews at the time of writing.
Generally, people appreciate that it has everything you’d want from an app without many additional features that take up unnecessary space. The app seems to work well for most users, with bugs apparently dealt with swiftly. PEMCO updates its app frequently; the most recent patch was within the last 30 days.
Pros and Cons
- Sleek, easy-to-read interface
- Frequent updates
- Ability to pay bills and view policy information with very little navigation
- No mobile claims support
A lot of insurance companies tend to create their apps and forget about them. PEMCO takes a more active approach, providing frequent updates and patches, and that definitely shows through in the positive reviews. Overall, this is a great app for day-to-day use when you’re a PEMCO insured. The ability to see when your bill is due right from the front page of the app, and its overall easy-to-navigate appearance, is very helpful. If it added mobile claims support it would definitely be one of the better apps on the market.
